| Learn to Lead the Dances.
New Dance Leadership Training Course
In one sense the dances can’t be taught, they have to be caught.
However there are a number of skills that need to be learned before anyone
can successfully lead the Dances of Universal Peace. On this course I
will show how you can develop those skills.
We will study in depth what I call the Foundation Stones of the Dances,
the mastery of which build one's capacity to hold and transmit the energy
of the dances. Essentially, working with the dances is working with energy:
weaving the energy of a group into an atmosphere that allows dancers to
experience more of themselves, more of others and more of God. This is
an increasingly subtle process. These Foundations Stones are: breath;
sound and voice; body awareness; rhythm; concentration and the various
walking practices; heart, magnetism and attunement; the unity of religious
ideals; and the spiritual lineage of the Dances.
All of the requirements for Level 1 Certification as specified by the
MTG (Mentor Teachers’ Guild) will be covered by this course. However
the certification process itself will not directly be part of the course.
Once the course is completed you will be able to fulfil the requirements
of the certification process at your own pace with your Dance Mentor.
The course will consist mostly of experiential learning over eight residential
weekends. There are also a number of written materials that will require
study.
The Foundation Stones and how they relate to Dance leading will be the
primary focus for each session. Emphasis will be given to the Foundation
Dances recommended by the MTG (Mentor Teachers’ Guild). We will
also take a look at dance creation, musicianship and working with musicians.
In addition to the residential weekends there will be meetings in the
form of group conference phone calls to study and discuss various aspects
of the dance leadership process. Participants will also be subscribed
to a special Yahoo Email group to receive and contribute files and emails
relating to the course.
Participants will also be encouraged to explore in depth at least one
spiritual tradition of their choice and to share their experience of this
with the rest of the group.
Who is this course for?
Ideally you will have a good deal of experience as a dancer and feel inspired
to take the next step. What is most necessary is the clear feeling that
you want to become a well-tuned instrument for sharing these Dances. The
course is intended primarily for those with no previous experience of
leading Dances. Those with experience of leading will also find the course
very beneficial. You are also welcome to participate if you simply want
to deepen your own connection to the Dances rather than to teach them.
